Baltimore Agrees to Four Years, $112 Million With Trey Hendrickson in Jesse Minter's First Marquee Move
The largest defensive signing of the free agency period. Minter identified his target, moved directly, and did not complicate it. The front four philosophy in Baltimore continues.

The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a four-year, $112 million contract with pass rusher Trey Hendrickson on Friday, the largest defensive signing of the free agency period and the first marquee transaction of the Jesse Minter era in Baltimore.
Hendrickson, 30, had 17.5 sacks and consistent production as a one-on-one pass rusher over the past two seasons in Cincinnati. Baltimore's interest was not a surprise in league circles — Minter spent his most recent two seasons as a defensive coordinator in the AFC, studying Hendrickson as an opponent in a division Baltimore and Cincinnati share. Teams in that conference develop documented views of the players they face twice a year, and Minter's view of Hendrickson was formed through direct competition.
What was notable about the signing was the speed and certainty of agreement. There were no reports of secondary conversations with other teams being used as negotiating leverage. Minter identified his target in the first days of the signing period and moved directly. The $112 million total represents a contract in line with the current market for elite pass rushers and reflects the organizational conviction behind the acquisition.
The Ravens also added guard John Simpson, safety Jaylinn Hawkins, and tight end Durham Smythe in the opening wave of free agency — functional additions across positions of need. Hendrickson represents a different category. He is the centerpiece of a defensive retooling, not a supporting piece, and his contract reflects that distinction.
Baltimore has historically constructed its defensive identity around the front four, with the secondary operating in cooperation with what the defensive line creates. Multiple previous regimes produced sustained defensive excellence with this philosophy, generating playoff appearances and two Super Bowl titles. Minter's first major transaction says he intends to build the same kind of defense with the player he valued most entering the market.
A significant decision still faces the front office before the roster takes its final shape: the contract status of center Tyler Linderbaum, a foundational piece of the offensive line whose extension has not been announced. That conversation runs in parallel with the defensive additions.
