Window Closes Tonight: Interior Linemen, Slot Corners Moving Fast in Final Hours. The AFC North Most Active Division.

Four position groups surged in the final day. The two deals to watch: the top center setting the market and the mystery receiver crossing $30M per year.

The free-agent negotiating window closes at 11:59 PM ET Wednesday, and the final hours have produced the familiar pattern that the window always creates in its last moments: teams that were patient through the first two days accelerating their activity, agents using competing offers to extract final adjustments to contract structures, and at least one reported agreement that appears designed primarily to prevent a player from reaching the open market Thursday rather than to solve a genuine roster need.

Four position groups have seen significant activity in the final day: interior offensive linemen, pass-coverage linebackers, slot cornerbacks, and veteran tight ends. All four reflect trends that have been visible in the league's defensive evolution over the past three years, and all four represent positions where the market has not historically been efficient. The teams spending at these positions this week are generally the teams whose coaching staffs have been explicit about schematic needs.

The largest concentrations of agreed-upon terms by region: the AFC North has been aggressive across all four divisions, with multiple teams reportedly agreeing to terms with impact players in the final twenty-four hours. The NFC South, by contrast, has been quieter than expected, which likely reflects cap constraints at several organizations rather than a deliberate strategy.

The two deals scouts and front offices are watching most carefully: the agreement for the top center in the class, which will set the market for interior line compensation for the next two cycles, and the receiver agreement that has been reportedly agreed to but not announced, which will tell the market whether the $30M-per-year threshold has been officially crossed by a player outside the truly elite tier.

Tomorrow at 4 PM ET, the agreements become contracts. The window closes tonight. The league will look different by Thursday evening.
